A tragic incident unfolded in the Bachirawa area of Kano State, where suspected thugs fatally stabbed a young man, Ibrahim Mahmud, in the chest.
The attack took place at the entrance of the residence of former Dala Local Government Chairman, Ibrahim Dan Isle, located on Secretariat Road, Dan Isle Street.
A brother of the deceased, Abubakar Mahmud, said the late Ibrahim used to be a political associate of Dan Isle, however, there had been some issues. Abubakar said Dan Isle invited the deceased to get Sallah meat. When Ibrahim arrived, he called to let Dan Isle know he was waiting at the gate. This is when some unknown people attacked him and stabbed him in the chest, resulting in de@th.
The family contacted Dala Police Division and made a report of the incident. But when the DPO visited the scene, Dan Isle and his family were nowhere to be found and his house was locked.
Efforts to contact Dan Isle for comments have been unsuccessful. Multiple phone calls to his number were responded to with a “busy” signal and a text message sent was yet to be responded to at the time of this report.
This comes at a time when there are political disputes in the local government area. In a related incident last month, the current Chairman of Dala Local Government, Hon Surajo Ibrahim Imam, was accused by the Councilor representing Gobirawa Ward in Dala, Hon Ibrahim Danwaire, of planning an assault on him at the council secretariat, which the chairman denied.
The police and other relevant authorities are called to act swiftly before further breakdown of law and order in the area.
