Road accident: 9 killed, 11 injured in Jigawa head on collision

Nine persons lost their lives in a fatal motor accident in Kyarama, Ringim Local Government Area of JIgawa State, on Saturday.

Spokesman of the Jigawa State police Command, SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident in a statement made available to DAILY POST.

Adam said the incident occurred when two vehicles had a head on collision.

“We regret to inform the public of a tragic motor vehicle accident that occurred earlier today, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at around 0200hrs, in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area (LGA), Jigawa State.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident involved two golf 3 saloon vehicles with reg no. Kaduna MKA 687 AY, driven by one Adamu Sunusi, of Hadejia LGA, coming from Abuja heading to Gujungu town and golf 3 with reg no. KWL 606 KA, driven by one Bashari Danjummai of Sauna, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, coming from Hadejia, heading for Kano.

“On reaching Kyaramma village, the vehicles had a head on collision, as a result, nine persons lost their lives while several others were injured to varying degrees,” the statement said.

The injured victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital, where nine passengers, including the two drivers, were pronounced dead by the doctor.

Adam said post mortem examination was conducted and the corpses released to families of the victims for burial. Efforts are currently underway to identify all victims and notify their families.

Eleven passengers are on admission and responding to treatment.

The statement noted that the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP AT Abdullahi, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

He also urged drivers to strictly follow traffic rules and regulations, avoid over speeding, and ensure the roadworthiness of their vehicles to prevent such tragic incidents.
