Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Umar Bala Fagge, has confirmed the death of 21 athletes from the Kano contingent who were returning from the just-concluded National Sports Festival held in Abeokuta, Ogun State
Bala Fage who confirmed this in a statement, Saturday said the fatal accident happened at Dakatsalle Bridge, saying that the bus conveying 30 athletes fell into the bridge.
According to him, the victims were still being conveyed to Kura General Hospital, adding that the son of Salisu Jegus, a sports correspondent with Express Radio was among the deceased.
The federal Road Safety corps in Kano State are yet to confirm as the sector commander could not pick his calls or return the message sent to him for confirmation
