Couple attacked over land dispute, husband abducted in Niger

A violent incident unfolded in Kashikoko village, Lavun Local Government Area of Niger state, when suspected miscreants from Anfani community attacked a couple, Aliyu Mohammed and his wife, on their farm.

It was learnt the incident occurred on Friday and was hinged on a longstanding farmland dispute.

It was also gathered that the miscreants gave the couple a severe beating, in which the wife sustained injuries, and the husband was abducted to an unknown location.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said on 16th May, 2025 at about 6pm, a report was received on the matter.

He explained that the report indicated that at about 12pm on the same date, one Aliyu Mohammed, 42 years old, and his wife, both of Kashikoko village via Doko, Lavun LGA, were attacked on their farm by suspected miscreants from Anfani community via Doko over a lingering farmland tussle.

“The wife was reportedly beaten and injured, while the husband was abducted to an unknown destination,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Abiodun disclosed that the Police have invited the Village head and the youth leaders to collaborate with the Police for necessary action to rescue the victim, effect arrest, and prosecution.

Investigation is in progress and further developments will be made known to the public.
