A 46-year-old man, Philip Ogbuehi, has been arrested in connection with the death of an unnamed man following an argument over right of way at a lounge in the Ogidan Sangotedo area of Lagos.
According to the Lagos State Police Command, the incident occurred on May 6, 2025, at around 8 p.m. during a heated exchange between Ogbuehi and the deceased. It is reported that Ogbuehi punched the victim in the chest, causing him to lose consciousness.
The deceased was quickly rushed to a hospital but was later confirmed dead by medical personnel. Investigations are ongoing, and the police have not yet released the identity of the victim.
In a separate case, a 39-year-old man, Best Orji, was arrested on April 30, 2025, after being accused of defiling his two daughters, aged 14 and 12. The report was made by the girls’ mother, and a medical report from a Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC) confirmed the allegations. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
On April 29, 2025, another disturbing case was reported to the police. A 48-year-old man, Peter Onehi, was accused of repeatedly assaulting his 16-year-old physically challenged daughter. The police received a report at around 9:30 p.m. and arrested Onehi after he was caught in the act of indecently assaulting his daughter. The survivor has been taken to the General Hospital in Ajeromi for treatment, and the investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, three men—28-year-old Oluwafemi Oladapo, 28-year-old Idris Mustapha, and 29-year-old Sefianu Usman—were arrested on May 1, 2025, for allegedly stealing a vehicle.
The suspects had taken a KIA Cerato from its parking spot at Alapere-Ketu and were attempting to sell it in the Oke-Koto area of Agege when they were apprehended. The vehicle was recovered, and the suspects are now in police custody.
In another incident on May 3, 2025, two men, 30-year-old Noah Olaniyi and 25-year-old Ojo Samuel, were arrested for attempting to rob a passerby. During their arrest, police found a live cartridge in their possession. Other members of the group managed to flee, but the police are continuing their efforts to apprehend them.
The suspects are currently detained in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, said, “Investigation is in progress to arrest other fleeing members of the group.”
