Fire razes another residential building in Ibadan

Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed in a fire incident that ravaged a residential building in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

It was gathered on Saturday that the incident occurred at No3 Bolarinwa Street Decart Area Ring Road, Ibadan.

It was learnt that the incident occured on Friday.

The fire incident affected three rooms in the building.

General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, Mr Yemi Akinyinka confirmed the incident.

He said that the agency received a distress call about the incident on Friday.

“On Friday 9th May, 2025, a distressed call was reported at exactly 16:05hrs. Immediately the address was taken, a crew of firemen led by ACFS Adekola quickly deployed to the scene of the fire incident and on arrival it was noticed that the three (3) bedrooms flat at the upper floor of single storey residential building was burning.

“We promptly swung into action and the fire was restricted from spreading to other unaffected properties and nearby buildings.

“No casualty was recorded and properties worth millions of naira was damaged by the fire.

“The fire was as a result of surge of electricity and ignited combustibles.
The OIC charged the public to always be conscious of fire and they should make sure that every home has fire extinguisher equipment in case of any eventuality.”

Our correspondent reports that the incident is coming few days after fire ravaged two residential buildings in Ibadan.
