Wave of Abductions Target Women and Residents in Zamfara State
Suspected bandits have abducted at least 25 women in Kurmi, a town within Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. According to local reports cited by BBC Hausa, the women were on their way to a wedding celebration when they were ambushed by armed attackers and forcibly taken.
In a separate alarming event, 19 more individuals were kidnapped in Galadi, a town situated in Tsafe Local Government Area. The nighttime raid left several people injured, further deepening the sense of insecurity.
The recent wave of attacks has raised fear and unease among residents of both communities, with many worried about escalating violence and the lack of safety in the region.
Zamfara State has witnessed repeated violent incidents in recent years, particularly in remote areas vulnerable to armed groups. These fresh abductions are another stark reminder of the persistent security challenges facing rural populations in the state.
