The Nigerian police are looking for a 36-year-old housewife, INRE Abiola Sholedolu Abiola for engaging in lesbian act.
According to Nigerian News Direct, she was allegedly caught engaging in a lesbian act with her 23-year-old neighbour’s daughter, Yetunde, in their Ikorodu neighbourhood.
The incident took place at their residence on Michael Enahoro Street, Maya, Ikorodu, in 2024.
According to the police, Abiola’s relationship with Yetunde began after she moved to Ikorodu following her marriage.
Investigations have revealed that Abiola, who identifies as bis3xual, has been involved in same-s3x relationships since her secondary school days and continued these acts after her marriage.
Her most recent encounter was uncovered when neighbours grew suspicious of her increasing closeness with Yetunde. On the day of the incident, while Abiola was alone in her apartment with Yetunde, she reportedly seduced the young woman and engaged in the lesbian act.
Yetunde’s mother returned home from the market to find her daughter missing and went searching for her. She discovered both women in the act and immediately raised the alarm, attracting the attention of other residents and landlords in the area.
On April 15, 2024, Abiola was ordered by the local landlord association and the Baale (community leader) of Maya to leave the area. Although initially hesitant, she eventually fled the community, fearing for her life after receiving multiple threats of lynching from community members. Meanwhile, her husband, Babatunde, was reportedly beaten by youths in the area, who demanded to know his wife’s whereabouts, but he has yet to be located.
This case has drawn attention due to Nigeria’s strict laws on same-s3x relationships.
The country’s government imposes a 14-year prison sentence for anyone convicted of engaging in homos3xual acts, including lesbianism.
The police are continuing their efforts to locate Abiola, as the investigation into the incident continues.
