Wike applauds Okowa, Oborevwori for supporting President Tinubu

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has hailed former Delta State Governor and 2023 PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for publicly endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Wike, in a statement issued on Wednesday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, described Okowa’s support as a “strong endorsement of the President’s good governance and commitment to national development.”

The FCT Minister said Okowa’s move is not only timely but also aligns with the vision of a united Nigeria—an idea he said guided his own political decisions during the last general election.

“I commend Dr. Okowa and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for this heart-warming decision. It shows recognition of the developmental strides and leadership of President Tinubu,” Wike said.

He urged other Nigerians still undecided about the Tinubu administration to follow suit, emphasizing that early support from regions like the Niger Delta would help them benefit more from ongoing federal programs.

Wike also seized the moment to draw a parallel between Okowa’s current stance and his own, saying, “What I saw before the 2023 election, others are now seeing and are joining the Renewed Hope train.”

The minister, a former governor of Rivers State, has been a vocal supporter of President Tinubu since the 2023 elections, often citing national unity and development as his primary motivations.

The endorsement by Okowa, who ran alongside PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, is being viewed by analysts as a significant political development in the country’s post-election landscape.
