Ukraine: Russia responds to claims of recruiting Chinese fighters

Russia has debunked claims by Ukraine that Moscow enlisted an unconfirmed number of Chinese nationals to fight alongside its soldiers on the battlefield.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, in an interview with TASS News Agency, described the information as incorrect.

I can say that nothing could be farther from the truth, mildly speaking,” Rudenko said on Saturday.

The official added, “China’s position on the settlement in Ukraine is quite balanced, and we are grateful to our friends for that.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, last Tuesday, announced the capture of Chinese citizens, accusing Russia of trying to involve Beijing in the three-year conflict.

Zelenskyy subsequently announced the discovery of 155 people linked to China following the detection of their names and passport details.

In response to Ukraine, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that Beijing was not participating in the war and had previously cautioned its citizens against combat activities.

The United States is monitoring the situation, according to National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes, who said China’s support, if true, “would be a concerning escalation.
