Police arrest suspected killer of POS operator in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command said it has launched an investigation into the gruesome killing of a 35-year-old POS operator, Abbas Yuguda, in Mayo-Belwa LGA.

SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa Police Command, said in a statement that the incident occurred on March 22, 2025, adding that some people attacked Yuguda with dangerous weapons while he was on his way home after the close of business.

According to the statement, operatives attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Mayo-Belwa, arrived at the scene and immediately rushed the victim to Cottage Hospital, Mayo-Belwa, in a bid to save his life, but he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.

On the strength of that, one of the suspects, identified as Umar SNU, was trailed by some angry youths and was subjected to mob action before being rescued by the police.

He was equally rushed to the hospital for medical attention and is now aiding the investigation,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, while condemning this act of violence, has directed a thorough and discreet investigation to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

He also warned members of the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands and urged them to allow the law to take its course.

The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
