Pope Francis sends audio message to worshippers

Pope Francis on Thursday shared an audio message to worshippers for the first time since being admitted to hospital in February.

In the newly released audio message shared with worshippers at the start of the evening Rosary prayer in St Peter’s Square, Pope said: “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers for my health from the Square, I am with you from here.

“May God bless you and the Virgin protect you. Thank you.”

The worshippers, however, broke into applause as the message was played.

The 88-year-old has been receiving treatment for double pneumonia since being admitted in February

The audio recording comes after the Vatican earlier said today that the Pope’s condition has been stable “compared to previous days”.
