More NNPP leaders will join APC soon – Ganduje

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has declared that more key figures from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) will soon defect to the ruling party.

Speaking during an empowerment program in Kano on Sunday, Ganduje expressed confidence that APC’s policies and governance approach were attracting opposition members.

“We thank you very much for resisting the campaign from different political parties, especially that dying party called NNPP,” he said.

“We thank you for creating a conducive environment and behaving so well. We thank you for inviting them into our party. They are coming into our party in silence, and very soon, we will receive senior officers, legislators, senators, former this, former that, from that dying party, NNPP. They will all come to our party, the great APC.”

His comments come amid speculations that some prominent NNPP members, discontent with the party’s leadership and policies, may be considering a switch to the APC.

Also, the presence of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, at the private ceremonies of an opposition senator in Kano has sparked controversy.

Senator Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), had defected from the APC ahead of the 2023 elections following a prolonged leadership crisis within the party.
