Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he wants to meet with his United States counterpart Donald Trump to discuss a deal to give the US access to Ukrainian minerals and rare earths before any meeting with Russia President Vladimir Putin.
Zelenskyy, who spoke at a press conference in Kyiv on Sunday, insisted that to make an agreement on Ukrainian security concerns, “we need to meet and talk about it.
I think that this meeting should be fair, which means before Trump meets Putin,” Zelensky said.
This is coming less than 24 hours after Trump vowed to retrieve all the money spent in supporting Ukraine amid the war with Russia.
Trump said United States is ready to regain its money from Ukraine through mineral resources and oil.
I’m trying to get the money back, or secured,” Trump said at the Conservative Political Action Conference, CPAC, near Washington.
I want them to give us something for all of the money that we put up. We’re asking for rare earth and oil, anything we can get.
