Lagos unveils Ibeju-Lekki’s 20-year development plan

The Lagos State Government, through its Office of Physical Planning, has announced the commencement of public display and inspection of the draft Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan (2024-2044).

The state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide, disclosed this in a statement by the Deputy Director of Public Affairs in the ministry, Mr Mukaila Sanusi, on Wednesday.

The Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan is a 20-year plan for the development of the Ibeju-Lekki part of Lagos State.

The plan outlines how the area should be developed in terms of infrastructure, land use and other matters.

Olumide said the draft plan would be made available for the public to inspect, expressing the hope that it would allow the residents and other stakeholders to provide feedback.

He said the feedback could then be used to improve the plan.

“It is imperative to know that public inspection of the draft Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan is in tandem with the state’s culture of citizens’ participation and international best practices in the preparation of physical development plans.

He added that the inspection period would be from February 26 to April 4, during work hours of 9.00 a.m to 4.00 p.m.

The commissioner urged the residents to actively participate in the inspection and provide feedback.

He said after the inspection period, the feedback would be considered, and the final Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan would be presented to stakeholders on April 11 at the Lekki Local Council Development Area Hall.

According to him, the presentation will mark the official beginning of the plan’s implementation.
