Tems Becomes First Female African Artist To Have Song Earn 1 Billion Streams On Spotify

Temilade Openiyi, the world-famous Nigerian singer, who is popularly known as Tems, has made history as the first female African artiste to have a song earn 1 billion streams on Spotify.

She achieved the first as her collaborative hit with Future and Drake, ‘Wait For U,’ recently hit the 1 billion streams mark on Spotify.

The song, which was released in 2022, samples Tems’ song, ‘Higher’ from her debut extended play, ‘For Broken Ears’ (2020).
