Sowore To Honor Police Invitation Over Viral Extortion Video

Former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, has announced his intention to honour an invitation by the Nigerian Police Force regarding a viral video he released alleging extortion at a police checkpoint in Lagos.

Sowore, in a post shared on the social media platform X.com (formerly Twitter) on Friday, confirmed receiving the official invitation letter and stated his readiness to appear before the police on Monday in Abuja.

The PoliceNG invitation has arrived, I will be there on Monday as requested,” Sowore wrote, sharing an image of the letter.

News360 Info understands that the controversy stems from a video Sowore shared earlier this week, exposing alleged acts of extortion by police officers at a Lagos checkpoint.

The video reportedly led to a directive from the police hierarchy to investigate the allegations, while a “manhunt” for Sowore was allegedly launched.
