IGP Bans Police Officers From Wearing Dark Glasses On Uniform, Vows To Punish Violators

IGP Summons Task Force, Tactical Squad Commanders Over Killings, Kidnappinhe Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has instructed police officers to cease wearing dark glasses while in uniform.

News360 Info reports that this directive, effective immediately, was communicated through a wireless message dated Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and sent to all zonal and state commands within the police force.

The wireless message was identified as CB:4001/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.121/104, was acquired by SaharaReporters on Thursday.

The IGP warned that any breach of this directive will result in strict penalties.

The communique reads: “INGENPOL has observed with concern x prevalent practice of personnel wearing dark glasses while in uniform x this attitude reflects poorly on the Force x deemed unacceptable x consequently x INGENPOL directs that henceforth all police personnel x should refrain from wearing dark glasses x while in uniform x violation of this directive will attract severe disciplinary action x you are to make this subject of lecture x.

“Ensure strict compliance x treat as very important please.”

Meanwhile, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has stated that he is ready to be arrested.

News360 Info understands that the Nigerian Police have allegedly begun a manhunt for the political activist over a viral video clip he shared on his social media platforms.

Sowore had shared a a video he recorded during an altercation with officers of the Nigeria Police on Murtala Muhammed International Airport Access Road in Lagos.

The video, which recently went viral on social media, captured the activist telling the officers stationed on the road to stop causing traffic at the Airport Road.

However, speaking via a recent post on his official X handle on Wednesday night, Sowore alleged that the police are currently “searching” for him.

The activist, however, expressed readiness for the arrest, stating that he is currently available in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Abuja.
