Tragedy As FMC Abeokuta Staff Commits Suicide By Jumping Into Well

The acting Head of the Audit Department at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Adeniyi Oluwaseun, tragically ended his life on Sunday by jumping into a well in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after Adeniyi had his dinner.

Vanguard gathered that the late auditor was preparing for a joyous family milestone, as one of his children was set to marry in a month’s time.

Adeniyi’s body was recovered from the well and has since been deposited at a morgue.

While the reasons behind the tragic act remain unclear, a source who spoke with Vanguard disclosed that Adeniyi had a history of mental health struggles. However, the specific details of his condition were not revealed.

The Head of Public Relations and Communication Unit at FMC Abeokuta, Segun Orisajo, confirmed the incident, expressing the hospital’s deep sense of loss and sadness.

It is true that he committed suicide. It was an unfortunate incident. The management feels saddened about this development,” Orisajo said.

He described Adeniyi as a hardworking and loyal staff member whose sudden death came as a shock to colleagues and management alike.

The unfortunate incident caught the entire management off guard. It is a quiet and irreparable loss. The management extends its heartfelt condolences to the department, as well as to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased,” he added.
