Bauchi police recovers N784,000 from officers involved in extortion, other misconducts

The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the recovery of N784,000 from officers involved in misconduct, with the funds returned to victims of extortion.
The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement highlighting the command’s achievements in 2024.

According to Mohammed, the command’s Complaint Response Unit, operating under the Police Public Relations Department, has been instrumental in addressing complaints of misconduct lodged by the public.

“In 2024, we received 10 complaints against our officers, which were thoroughly investigated. These efforts led to the recovery of N784,000 from officers found culpable, and the money has been returned to the victims,” the police commissioner said.

He further revealed that 18 officers faced disciplinary action for various professional misconduct.
