Lakurawa: Niger President Tchiani’s claim against Tinubu baseless – Shehu Sani

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has described the Nigerien military leader General Abdourahamane Tchiani’s claim of President Bola Tinubu’s complicity in the formation of the Lakurawa terrorist organization as baseless.

Sani stated that such a terrorist group could not be harbored in Nigeria, contrary to Tchiani’s assertion.

In an interview with Radio-Télévision du Niger, Tchiani accused Tinubu of conniving with France to destabilize Niger Republic.

He alleged that the Lakurawa terrorist group, with the help of foreign security forces, including Nigeria’s, was responsible for the attack on the Niger-Benin oil pipeline on December 13, 2024, in Gaya, Dosso Region of Niger Republic.

Reacting to the claims, Sani urged the Nigerian government and its Niger Republic counterpart to work together against terrorism.

“For a country whose people have suffered over a decade of kidnappings and bloodshed at the hands of terrorists and are still fighting, it’s inconceivable that such a terrorist group could ever be harbored here.

“Niger’s President’s claims are wild conjectures, hollow, superstitious, and an imaginary conspiracy theory lacking any credible evidence.

“The way forward is for Niger and Nigeria to work together in confronting and extinguishing the common threats.”
