Osun Govt Slams APC National Secretary Over Demand To Investigate Gov Adeleke’s Aide

The Osun State Government has berated the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, for demanding the probe of the Chief of Staff to Osun State Governor, Kazeem Akinleye.

News360 Info reports that in a statement on Sunday, Basiru called on security agencies to investigate Akinleye over comments allegedly made by the Chief of Staff, which he described as “reckless” and potentially inciting violence ahead of the 2026 governorship elections.

Basiru claimed that Akinleye threatened opposition members, urging them to either support Governor Ademola Adeleke or leave the state.

The APC National Secretary warned that such comments could escalate political tensions and spark unnecessary violence.

Reacting, the spokesperson for the Osun State Governor, Olawale Rasheed, accused Basiru of distorting facts and attempting to malign Adeleke’s administration.

He dismissed Basiru’s claims, adding that they were baseless, and Akinleye’s remarks were taken out of context.

The APC National Secretary’s accusations are a desperate attempt to divert attention from the successful governance under Governor Adeleke, who has consistently delivered on his promises to the people of Osun.

Governor Adeleke is a man of peace, and so is his Chief of Staff. The APC Secretary’s statements are nothing more than a tactic to paint the administration in a negative light,” Rasheed said.

Rasheed added that Governor Adeleke and his team were focused on governance and had no intention of engaging in violent political tactics.

He further accused the APC of attempting to manipulate public opinion by misrepresenting Akinleye’s comments.

Basiru’s attempt to criminalise a call for peaceful political engagement is a clear sign of the APC’s desperation ahead of the 2026 elections,” Rasheed said.
