NACC urges NNPCL to clear doubts about Port Harcourt refinery fuel exports

The National Transparency Watch, NTW, has criticised the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, for its failure to provide sufficient details about the recent sale of products from the Port Harcourt Refinery to a Dubai-based company.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, NTW Coordinator Ademola Moses expressed disappointment that, 72 hours after admitting to selling a cargo of low-sulfur straight-run fuel to Gulf Transport & Trading Limited, GTTL, NNPCL has yet to address public concerns.

Moses suggested that the delay indicates the corporation may be concealing critical information about the transaction.

“The selection of GTT raises serious concerns, given the company’s controversial involvement in previous infractions, including dealings in contaminated and sanction-tainted Russian oil,” Moses stated.

He alleged that the exported fuel could be part of a scheme to swap Nigerian fuel for substandard products from Eastern Europe, contradicting the corporation’s stated export goals.
