Luigi Mangione was, on Monday, named by police as the person of interest in the fatal shooting of the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson.
The 26-year-old is originally from Towson, Maryland.
He was found with a gun, a silencer, and a manifesto, which revealed his disdain for the healthcare system.
Mangione has however not been charged in connection to Thompson’s death.
He was arrested on firearm charges, after a McDonald’s worker spotted him inside their restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
“Members of the Altoona Police Department arrested Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old male, on firearms charges,” NYPD Commissioner, Jessica Tisch, said.
“At this time, he is believed to be our person of interest in the brazen targeted murder of Brian Thompson.”
Thompson was gunned down in Midtown Manhattan last week, ahead of a work conference. UnitedHealthcare is one of the largest medical insurers in the US.
