A late-night fire has engulfed the former JFM building located in Effurun, in the Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
Naija News reports that information regarding the cause of the fire remains limited as of the time of filing this report.
However, there are concerns that the blaze may extend to adjacent structures if it is not swiftly controlled.
At approximately 8:43 PM, personnel from the Delta State Command’s Fire Service encountered a shortage of water, hindering their efforts to extinguish the flames consuming the building that houses Current FM.
According to a sourcein Daily Post, law enforcement officers are present to prevent any potential disturbances or looting of the property by individuals with ill intentions.
Meanwhile, an early morning fire outbreak which occurred on Friday razed down the Lafia modern market located in Nasarawa State.
Naija News gathered that the fire destroyed several shops in the market as the owners and sympathizers watched helplessly.
The inferno, which began around 9:450am on Friday, destroyed properties worth millions of naira.
The Director of the Fire Service in the state, Joshua Ombugu, later confirmed to newsmen that the incident was caused by the dumpsite near the market.
He said the men of the fire service were able to salvage properties worth about ₦10 million, while properties estimated at ₦150 million were destroyed.
Fortunately, no lives were lost.
“The incident took place at 21:54hrs. The fire was caused by the dumpsite.
“We estimated the property lost to be worth about ₦150 million and the property we were able to save worth about ₦10 million.
“There was no casualty. We mobilised our men swiftly, and five fire ambulances were sent to the site of the incident,” Ombugu said.
