US Election: Why I Voted For Kamala Harris – Davido

Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, revealed that his decision to vote for Kamala Harris in the recent U.S. election was motivated by his desire to witness a historic moment—the emergence of the first female president in his generation.

In a conversation on The Morning Hustle podcast, Davido revealed that he felt strongly about witnessing a historic moment in American politics.

He expressed that having a female president would have been a groundbreaking achievement for his generation.

Despite voting for Harris, Davido also made it clear that he respects the U.S. democratic process.

He shared that he congratulated Donald Trump after his victory, acknowledging the importance of supporting the electoral process regardless of personal preferences.

“I congratulated Donald Trump. That’s the president! What are you talking about? If I were running against him, I would still have congratulated him.

“What I like about America is that there’s true democracy. Where I come from [Nigeria], it’s not so.

“To be honest, I voted for Kamala Harris because I wanted to see the first female president in my generation. That would have been cool,” Davido said.

In addition to his political views, Davido also discussed the growing trend of Nigerians giving birth abroad.

He explained that for many Nigerians, it’s a way to secure better opportunities for their children, ranging from access to foreign citizenship to superior healthcare and education.

“Giving birth abroad is a common trend among Nigerians. Apart from having better [medical] facilities overseas, people want to have their kids abroad to save them the hassle of applying for visas,” he said.
