Two men have been arrested in Adamawa State over the killing of a police officer.
The Adamawa State Police Command arrested the two men: Ezekiel Kefas, 67, and Stephen Zabadi, 44, who hail from Wamsa Suwa Ward in Lamurde Local Government Area, in connection with the murder of the policeman identified as Ibrahim Maizabuwa.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed that the suspects were apprehended last week, on November 19, 2024.
He said the son of the deceased, Danlami Ibrahim Maizabuwa, who hails from Gombe State, reported the matter to the Adamawa police command.
Our investigation reveals that the deceased is a police officer and works in Gombe State.
He visited his friend, Ezekiel Kefas, who resides at Wamsa Suwa. He was killed and buried in the community,” Nguroje explained.
He quoted Kefas as saying during interrogation, “My friend came and started destroying properties, including pots of soup and water in my house and assaulting people, as a result of which women and children raised alarm which attracted thugs who beat him.
They beat him with sticks to death. Yesterday, we went to the houses of those who were among those who took part in the beating, but we didn’t meet any of them.
Nguroje said the state Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, had ordered for discreet investigation, arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the matter.
