Real Madrid star, Vinicius Junior has taken to his X handle to express his feelings after loosing out on Ballon d’Or 2024 award.
News360 Info reports that there were much expectations that Vinicius Junior will win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
However, hours to the award night, reports emerged that no Real Madrid player or officials will attend the event in Paris following convincing report that another player will win the award ahead of the Brazilian star.
Taking to his social media shortly after the official announcement of the winner of the 2024 edition of the most prestigious football award, Vinicius Jnr. wrote: “I’ll do it 10x if I have to. They are not ready.”
Manchester City’s Rodri was declared the winner of the year’s Ballon d’Or at the event held on Monday night in Paris, France.
News360 Info reports that the star-studded Ballon d’Or showcased not only individual players but also recognised the exceptional clubs and managers who have made significant contributions to the sport over the past year.
Aside Vinicius Junior and Rodri, other nominees for the 2024 Ballon d’Or include Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden (Man City) and Nigerian professional footballer, Ademola Lookman.
Each contender has made their mark in exciting ways, but only a select few walked away from the iconic Théâtre du Châtelet with one of the coveted awards.
While the Ballon d’Or trophy is undoubtedly the highlight of the evening, the ceremony also presents several other prestigious honours, including the Kopa Trophy for the top young player and the Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper.
