Popular American rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, was reportedly arrested on Thursday night in Florida, facing charges of murder-for-hire.
Currently held without bail, Banks is in custody at Broward County Jail, with plans for transfer to U.S. Marshals, as reported by XXL Magazine.
This arrest follows the earlier detention of five other individuals, each charged with murder-for-hire and conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire.
The charges are linked to the 2022 fatal shooting of Saviay’a Robinson, cousin of rapper Quando Rondo, in Los Angeles. Authorities have tied the incident to ongoing gang-related disputes.
Federal prosecutors have named the other suspects as Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston, alleging that they were seeking retaliation against Rondo for his suspected involvement in the 2020 murder of Chicago rapper King Von in Atlanta, according to WGN-TV.
According to Baller Alert, the indictment points to a well-coordinated plan involving alleged OTF affiliates who reportedly placed a bounty on Quando Rondo, instead his cousin Lul Pab was killed. Allegedly, members of OTF used a credit card linked to the record label to purchase plane tickets, enabling them to travel from Chicago to California after learning Quando Rondo’s location.
DJ Akademiks quickly took to social media to break the news, posting Lil Durk’s mugshot alongside a tweet captioned: “Breaking: Lil Durk has been arrested by U.S. Marshals and held in Broward County Correctional Facility until he’s extradited to California for his Federal Charge. His Charge is ‘MURDER FOR HIRE’ for the death of Quando Rondo’s cousin, ‘Lul Pab.’”
