‘Wike vs Fubara: ‘Matter has gone too far’ – Fayose says there’ll be no reconciliation

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has said there will be no reconciliation to the feud between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and his former godson, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

Fayose, a friend and political ally of former Rivers Governor, Wike, said it was already too late to call for reconciliation, insisting that the matter has gone too far.

Fayose said there was a breach of trust between the two politicians, which according to him, would not be easy to restore.

“This crisis is unfortunate, very, very unfortunate.

”I believe that the matter has crossed the Rubicon,” he said on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

“It has gone far. Breach of trust even if you want to resolve this matter, where do you put the trust part? I rather want to believe that it is too far in the day to call for reconciliation,” he stated.

News360 Info reports that Wike and Fubara, who succeeded him as Rivers Governor, have been at loggerheads since the latter assumed office in 2023.

In a recent interview, the FCT Minister said the restoration of peace in Rivers State is up to Fubara.

Despite Presidential Bola Tinubu’s intervention, the rift between the duo had continued unabated and escalated during the recent local government elections in the state.

It has been reported that violent clashes in at least four local government areas, with parts of the buildings in Eleme, Ikwerre, and Emohua council premises burnt down by rampaging political hoodlums, while gunshots were fired sporadically in Ahoada East to resist newly elected council officials on Monday.

The burning of LG secretariats came shortly after the withdrawal of the police officers securing the 23 council secretariats.
