Activist lawyer, Madubuachi Idam has said Nigeria’s criminal justice administration is under trial.
Idam was reacting to the leaked audio of crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, by Martins Vincent Otse, VeryDarkMan.
VeryDarkMan released an audio of Bobrisky saying he paid some officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, N15m bribe to drop his money laundering charges.
Bobrisky also claimed that he never served his six months sentence in Kirikiri prison because his godfather arranged for him to stay in a lodge.
Chatting with DAILY POST, Idam said: “By the audio leakage, the image of Nigeria is now under trial, the entire criminal justice administration in Nigeria is under trial.
The audio making the rounds as reported by the Facebook Activist Verydarkman, suggests that some class of convicts are permitted to spend their imprisonment in a decent apartment other than the custodian centers where they are ordered to be kept.
This allegation must be treated as a serious National issue without making Bobrisky or Verydarkman a scapegoat.
In order to unravel the truth, Bobrisky must be treated like a new bride, assured of security and safety and encouraged to name and shame everyone involved in the allegation. Otherwise, he will deny the allegations and the matter will slide.
We need to know the facts about where he spent his term of imprisonment and how many counts he was supposed to be charged with and who received the money to drop some of his charges.
