American singer and actress, Selena Gomez has opened up about how she prepared for her role in the new Spanish musical, ‘Emilia Pérez’.
The pop star revealed that she took a break from music and other activities to prepare for her role.
Gomez spoke at a Question-and-Answer session with the rest of the cast of Emilia Perez at the Telluride Film Festival on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
I stopped working on my music and anything else, and solely focused on this [musical].
Every day, I’d wake up and rehearse the lines over and over again. And I’d call in the middle of the night, my Spanish teacher,” she said.
The 32-year-old singer played the character of Jessi Del Monte in the new musical.
She revealed singing in the new movie was “therapeutic.”
Netflix released the first trailer for the Spanish-language French film on August 26.
The synopsis for the movie, which also stars Zoe Saldaña, describes the film as “an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations.”
