Professor Wole Soyinka, a Nobel laureate, characterized corruption as a dangerous cankerworm that destroys great nations on Friday.
Speaking at the 26th Annual Wole Soyinka Lecture to commemorate his 90th birthday, which was hosted by the Pyrates Confraternity, a National Association of Seadogs, Soyinka said that corruption greatly disadvantaged individuals.
Without a shift in mindset and everyone’s willingness to start acting morally, he said, it would be difficult to defeat corruption.
