Under the direction of Justice Halima Mohammed, the chief judge of the state, the Gombe State Criminal Justice and Inquiry Committee recently approved the release of 185 prisoners from various state-run detention facilities.
This choice was made in order to protect the convicts’ wellbeing and reduce jail overcrowding.
When Justice Mohammed visited the Billiri Correctional Centre, she expressed her appreciation for the committee’s hard work in making sure that only eligible prisoners were released.
