The UK government has decided to postpone raising the family visa income criteria from £29,000 to £38,700 (about ₦80 million), according to Home Secretary Yvette Cooper.
Former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak unveiled this idea earlier this year in an attempt to control record immigration levels; it was initially scheduled to go into force in 2025.
The projected increase has been put on hold while the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) conducts a thorough assessment of the family visa policy. This decision was made by the incoming administration.
