Early on August 1, market women in the city of Ughelli and the surrounding areas took charge of the ongoing demonstrations to voice their displeasure with the state of hunger in general.
They waved green leaves at Otovwodo Junction in Delta State’s Ughelli North Local Government Area as a show of protest and unity.
Over two thousand protestors, including women and young people, blocked traffic on the East-West Road and prevented people from reaching their destinations by obstructing the main thoroughfare.
