Court Restricts Protests In Lagos To Freedom, Peace Park

Protesters who wish to take part in the planned August 1 countrywide rally are restricted by a Lagos High Court to two locations: Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota and Peace Park in the Ketu area of the state.

Justice Emmanuel Ogundare rendered the decision on Tuesday in response to a preemptive ex parte petition submitted by Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, the state attorney general and commissioner of justice.

The proposal sought to protect people’s safety and avert possible property and human casualties during the demonstrations.
