Nigeria records two National grid collapses in Q1 2024 – NERC

Nigeria’s National grid responsible for electricity supply in the country recorded two system collapses in the first quarter of 2024.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission disclosed this in its latest Q1,2024 report.

The commission said the country’s national grid had one partial collapse and one total collapse in the period under review.

According to the report, the said grid collapses occurred on February 4 and March 28, 2024.

“There were two (2) incidents on the national grid during 2024/Q1 one (1) partial and one (1) total collapse. The partial collapse occurred on 04 February 2024 while the total collapse occurred on 28 March 2024”, the report stated.

News360 Info reported that 27 power plants are connected to the national grid which had an available electricity generation capacity of 4,249.10 megawatts in Q1 2024.
