Niger State begins payment of N25bn to pensioners

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has announced that N25 billion in pension payments are overdue and promised to take severe action against anyone found manipulating pensioners’ files and serial numbers.

At the Niger State Pension Board’s flag-off of payment to the first batch of 335 retirees in Minna, the governor issued the warning through his deputy, Yakubu Garba.

He clarified that N25 billion had been authorized and disbursed to settle all unpaid benefits for retirees who had faithfully served the state.
