Maritime Workers Union Rejects Participation In Planned Nationwide Protest

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has announced that its members will not participate in the August 1, 2024, nationwide demonstration against hunger.

Prince Adewale Adeyanju, the president-general of the Union, said in a statement that demonstrators would not be allowed to obstruct port operations.

Adeyanju underlined, “We are committed to taking part in any industrial action organized legally and methodically by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) as an affiliate of the NLC and a responsible union. These requirements are not met by the planned protest.
