Festus Osifo, the national president of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), has made it clear that organized labor is not involved in the upcoming nationwide demonstration.
Festus Osifo said that organized labor was not contacted by the organizers of the August nationwide demonstration known as “EndbadgovenanceinNingeria.”
According to Osifo, organized labor has a method of opposing policies and has recommended the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu to deal with the county’s economic problems.
The clarification was provided by Comrade Festus Osifo on Thursday during his State of the Nation speech to the media.
The TUC president did, however, stress that Nigerians’ constitutional right to protest is protected. He issued a warning against intimidating Nigerians into not exercising their rights as protected by the constitution by means of security agencies.
