To show their support and solidarity with the nation’s struggling economy, members of the House of Representatives have decided to take a 50% pay cut for a period of six months.
According to sources, the most recent event happened after a prayer motion on the necessity for MPs to give up half of their N600,000 monthly salary in order to support Nigerians was adopted by the House’s Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
According to him, the wage reduction will help the federal government alleviate the suffering that Nigerians are going through by addressing the nation’s growing food prices.
