Philip Shaibu was restored to his position as the deputy governor of Edo State by the Federal High Court in Abuja, which is chaired by Justice J.K. Omotosho, on Wednesday.
This ruling follows the contentious impeachment of Shaibu by the Edo State House of Assembly, which has since been reversed by the judiciary.
Shaibu thanked the court in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Musa Ebomhiena, calling the decision a victory for democracy and the rule of law.
He underlined that the judiciary is still the last resort for the average person, highlighting the crucial role that courts play in preserving justice and equity in the democratic system.
