The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has been given a seven-day ultimatum by the Nigeria Bar Association Section on Public Interest (NBA-SPIDEL) to stop requiring car owners to obtain a Central Motor Information System Certificate (CMRIS) for a minimum of N6,000.
The Nigeria Police Force’s CMRIS Certificates have been questioned by NBA-SPIDEL, who claims that there is no legal foundation for the police to provide such licenses or certificates to car owners once the vehicles have been registered at the proper places.
