The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has made it clear that his state did not get the ₦35,000 pay award that was declared for workers by the federal government.
In his country house of Nvosi, in the Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Governor Alex Otti revealed this on Friday during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Joint Negotiating Council.
In response to the Abia State government’s noncompliance with the ₦30,000 minimum wage and nonpayment of the wage award from the federal government to the state workers, labor had issued an indefinite strike notice, scheduled to begin on July 15.
