Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), stated on Wednesday that President Bola Tinubu’s recent statement does not suggest that Nigeria’s land borders will be completely opened.
Adeniyi said that the President’s direction is still being studied by the service, but emphasized that the announcement is not intended to allow illicit items to enter the nation.
The head of customs stressed that the president’s proclamation suspends duties and levies in order to facilitate food imports into the nation and address the hunger crisis in Nigeria.
