The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has begun the process of contesting a recent court decision that declared the primary election that produced Asue Ighodalo the party’s nominee for governor of Edo State in 2024 to be invalid.
The appeal, which was submitted to the Court of Appeal in Abuja, claims 25 grounds in an attempt to reverse the Federal High Court’s July 4, 2024 ruling.
It was recalled that the PDP had disregarded electoral procedures and its own constitution by preventing 378 elected ward delegates from running in the primary election on February 22. As a result, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court ruled that the primary election was unlawful.
