Following the Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy’s recommendations, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the release of 56 prisoners from various prisons located throughout the state.
The governor also approved the committal of one death row prisoner to life in prison, according to a statement released on Tuesday by Lawal Pedro, SAN, the state’s attorney general and commissioner for justice.
On June 25, 2024, the governor legally approved these choices. One prisoner also granted a pardon.
