In an effort to reduce drug abuse in the area, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano has proposed that prospective married couples submit to a drug test.
The most recent occurrence was verified in a statement released on Thursday by the NDLEA Commander in Kano, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad.
He noted that the organization has started the Drug Integrity Test Initiative, which is anticipated to grow into a national campaign against drug usage.
According to Idris-Ahmad, the drug test will serve as a deterrent to drug consumption and a means of identifying individuals and couples who are drug users so they can get the therapy and rehabilitation they need.
