Donald Trump, the former president, has protection for official acts made while in office, the US Supreme Court said on Monday.
The majority decision, reached by a vote of 6-3, overturned the lower court’s judgment regarding the criminal charges brought against Trump due to his actions following the 2020 election.
The decision was the first time the Supreme Court has said that previous presidents might always be protected from prosecution for crimes since the country’s inception in the eighteenth century.
